ACPI

Preamble

The practice of medicine is teamwork of allied professions like physicians, pharmacists and nurses. Pharmacist occupies the central place indicating their role as interface between physicians, nurses and patients. There is always a felt need of relevant information regarding diseases, drugs, mode of administration, drug interactions and quality use of medicines due to apathy the infrastructure to cater the need of this vital issue has been ignored in our country. It has resulted in confusion, fear, and lack of transparency, irrational use of drugs in our ACPI. The drugs being double-edged swords need to be handled carefully to impart best of modern medicine to the suffering patients.It is the responsibility of pharmacy profession to establish norms and standards of pharmacy practice, and to provide with appropriate knowledge to the patients so that they become intelligent users of drugs. It is call to all like-minded pharmacists registered pharmacists of this country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to educate patients when they actually need education and information.

Aims & Objectives


  1. The objects for which the ACPI is established are:To organize into an association of all persons engaged in, interested in or connected with community pharmacy.
  2. To elevate and establish a standard of competence for community pharmacy;
  3. To develop and promote standards of education and training for community pharmacy;
  4. To develop and promote short-term informal training programmes for individuals interested in community pharmacy;
  5. To educate hospital trustees, Board of Directors, Board of Visitors and the public to understand that the practice of community pharmacy calls for special training and experience:
  6. To serve as a forum for exchange of ideas and experiences, and collection and dissemination of information in general community pharmacy.
  7. To spread the knowledge on the principles, practices, techniques and methods concerning community pharmacy;
  8. To promote and safeguard the status and the interest of community pharmacy and the interests of those engaged in it;
  9. To promote sponsor, submit memorandums, petitions and representations to local, state, union and other authorities for better laws, and influence legislations which affect hospitals and other community pharmacy organizations;
  10. To organize conferences, seminars, meetings and discussions for the promotion and furtherance of the aims and objects of the ACPI;
  11. To undertake and bring out, publish, sell, distribute free or otherwise, edit, print and exhibit for sale, magazines publication, bulletins, books pamphlets and the like, in furtherance of the objects of the ACPI and in any event not for the purpose of carrying a trade there from but only for the purposes of furthering the objects of the ACPI;
  12. To raise any monies for the purpose of the ACPI by way of special subscriptions, membership or entrance fees, donations, special fees, loans or in any other manner on such terms and conditions as may be determined;
  13. To purchase, take on lease or in exchange, or otherwise acquire, any movable or immovable property, rights or privileges, which may be deemed necessary, expedient or desirable for any of the objects, of the ACPI.
  14. To accept from the Government, organizations, institutions and individuals, grants, donations, subscriptions, gifts bequests, endowments, special fees, etc, for the furtherance of the objects of the ACPI;
  15. To make from time to time, regulation and bye-laws for the control, conduct and regulation of the affairs of the ACPI;
  16. To confer Fellowships in community pharmacy on those who have done or are doing noteworthy service in the field of community pharmacy;
  17. To generally do all such other things as are incidental or conducive to the attainment of any or all of the above mentioned objects.

Rules & Regulations

Eligibility and conditions:All the registered pharmacists of the country are eligible to become members of the association. The D.Pharm holder can organize camps of patient counseling and act as facilitators where as graduate pharmacist will act as counselors. The counseling sessions should be reported to the head office by email every week. After facilitating 25 sessions, the diploma holder are eligible to become counselors after undergoing an orientation program.
The local branches of ACPI are encouraged to facilitate and monitor patient counseling. The funds are collected from the membership, 40% is for maintenance of activity of local branch, and the 60 % of the funds collected should be sent to the treasure APCI by DD payable at State Bank of India Manipal.
The account settlement in the responsibility of the local branch, who should submit the original documentary duly signed by general secretary of local branches on or before the last day of Feb. every year, this would facilitate the activity of the amount branch before 31st of march every year, the receipt book and other necessary stationary can be obtained from the PRO by request.
The members of the association should declare their willingness to voluntarily agree to counsel patients and share the experiences of pharmacy practice to develop profession.
The Association of community pharmacists will be registered as a non-profit organization with social cause to establish pharmacy practice in community pharmacy setup.
